Sunday 4th December 2016

Firstly I would like to thank Fulfords players, coaching staff and supporters for a brilliant display of sportsmanship and for given us a real good run out, it was so good to see a team run in the right way. They played with spirit and determination and I think you will all agree we knew we had been in a game today. A few supporters from Fulford also came up to me to express who well they thought we played and the spirit we showed at the end of the games in shaking hands….they were most impressed so thank you all for that, made me proud to be part of this great club. 👏👏👏
Now onto the match reports….
The Blue team started brightly in their 1st game and it was a very end to end game where the defenders and goalkeepers were kept busy throughout. At last we made the breakthrough in the 1st half with a goal from Eddie. Soon after Adam scored a 2nd off the subs bench to make the halftime score 2-0. In fairness to Fulford they didn’t deserve to be 2-0 down and even our players thought they deserved to be level at halftime. I rallied the lads and made a few changes but they got back on level terms with around 4 mins to go. At this point the game could have gone either way but it ended 2-2 which I thought was probably the fairest result. I must add that our debutant goalkeeper Lee had a blinder in goal but the whole team played as a team and got stuck in to grind out a very hard fought draw.
The second game was a little easier than the first game but we still had to work hard. With goals from Seth, Henri, Jacob & Ethan as well as a brilliant OG from Ewan when he was trying to stop a cross and the ball and it hit his knee and looped over the goalkeepers head into the top corner. The game ended with Panthers winning 4-2 but it was they way both teams played that made it a delight to watch, with supporters from both sides cheering on both teams and applauding the efforts of the opposing team.
Man of the Match was easy for me today as if it wasn’t for Lee Smith in goal, the 1st game could’ve been a lot different so well done Lee but thank you to everyone for your efforts today….proud of you all 👏👏👏

The Yellow team did well too but found themselves 0-3 down in the first game but with gritty determination got it back to 2-3 with goals from Reggie & Jackson and could have easily claimed a draw at the end which they fully deserved.
The second game ended 0-3 but hats off to the lads for not giving up and for giving Fulford a hard fought 2 games.
Man of the Match went to Will Smith in goal for some fantastic saves.

Once again thank you to everyone today especially the parents that helped out with refereeing. It was good to see and play against old faces and to play the beautiful game in such a great style.
Enjoy the rest of yr day…..you all deserve it 😎
