YORK R.I. (5) V (1) HAMILTON PANTHERS
Panthers travelled the short distance to rivals R. I. and were bullied out of their stride by a fired up display by the home side on a heavy pitch who wanted it more and won all their individual battles to impose themselves over Panthers and run out comfortable winners. No excuses here, Panthers arrived in good form and only missing Paul King but were never allowed to settle. A Craig MacShane own goal set them on their way heading past Jon Dunning before Jimmy Clamp equalised for Panthers. Hutchinson headed the home side back in front with the marking none existent before Lee Powell added a third from what looked a off side position. Tackles were flying in and Hutchinson can count himself lucky to have still been on the pitch at this time after a crunching tackle on Willo and already on a yellow card. Mark Woodward got the goal of the game with a thunderous shot giving Dunning no chance.
Panthers edged the second half but R. I. were in no mood to let them back into the game as they continued to work hard and were always a threat on the break led by the impressive Powell who was always a outlet for his side. Panthers thought they had pulled one back but were foiled by good goalkeeping and scrambling defence. Daz Sellers got the final goal after Jon Dunning spilt the ball gifting the chance to the midfielder.
A poor performance from Panthers who were up against determined opponents and on this form could add some silverware to the trophy cabinet.
No games for both teams next week.
M.O.M. R. O’Rielly.(had his hands full against Powell)
