Hamilton Panthers FC's 2012 Annual Gala Day will take place on the Little Knavesmire on Sunday, May 6 and be held in association with the City of York Council's official York800 celebrations.

This year marks the 800th anniversary of York being granted its Charter by King John, allowing it to elect a council, create a mayor and run its own affairs.

Panthers' Annual Gala Day usually attracts around 40 clubs and 1500 players and spectators, with teams as far away as Scotland having entered. However, the 2012 event will be even bigger and better.

Participating clubs play structured competition for under-7s, under-8s, under-9s and under-10s, while families, spectators and the general public are invited to enjoy a host of other fun events in a fantastic location next to York Racecourse. More details to be announced.

The Gala is part of a year-long programme of events as the club seeks to win support for its new multi-sport, community clubhouse and public cafe. Read about them here.
